Spitbank Fort
The fort, which was built in 1878, lies 1 mile out of Portsmouth harbour in the Solent, and offers a great destination for corporate hospitality.
The fort has full conference facilities to provide seating for 100 people and we can organise a meetings, seminars, conferences and even party nights for you with full catering and resident D.J.
The fort also has great historical significance, being designed to defend the inner approaches to Portsmouth harbour from French invaders, and to act as a secondary line of defence against light draft vessels.
The fort was fitted with nine 12.5 inch, 38-ton guns to seaward, and seven 7 inch 7-ton guns to landward. As part of your experience wonder around the fort and see the gunroom, which has been painstakingly restored. If you are brave enough venture to the bottom of the fort, which is the seabed, and walk around the fort between the inner and outer walls.
